"Words. They make the world work. Imagine what life would be like without words. Pretty tough, huh? Especially because you're describing that vision with words. Anyway, if the world runs on words, you owe it to yourself to get to know some new words. If you have...."

I'd take what the author says about getting a raise and impressing your friends with these words with a grain of salt. Several grains, actually.

But it couldn't hurt to learn these words, from algid to zeitgeist.

Funny, 'gestalt' isn't in the list.

"Gestalt" works best if you're in the arts. Only there it's not really all that impressive as it's a standard part of the jargon.

It also sounds like you just sneezed.
