Lemming Tracks: All Haiti, All the Time?

The Lemming has been posting a lot about Haiti this week.

It may feel like Apathetic Lemming of the North is all-Haiti-all-the-time: but you'll find non-Haiti posts, too.

Back to Haiti.

Very close to 5:00 p.m., Haiti time, a 7.0 earthquake hit, quite close to Port au Prince. As a result of the earthquake, and - apparently - somewhat informal building codes and construction practices, Haiti's capital is a mess. The death toll, as of a day or so ago, according to the Red Cross, is around 45,000 and 50,000.

On the remote chance that you may see something here that you haven't already seen about Haiti and relief efforts, the Lemming plans to keep Haiti posts coming: as long as it's a crisis situation, and there's something new to write about.

For what it's worth: a list of charities you've probably heard about already, with links and some contact information: Also a list of posts in this, and two other blogs, about Haiti.

Today's News! Some of it, anyway

Actually, some of yesterday's news may be here. Or maybe last week's.
The software and science stuff might still be interesting, though. Or not.
