"Wine angels: wenches on winches?"
Oddly Enough, Reuters Blog (December 1, 2009)
"Blog Guy, many college seniors depend on you for career advice. Are there any new opportunities out there? I am a woman with a creative writing major. I enjoy swinging from ropes and being around alcoholic beverages. Any advice?
"Yes. Look into the exciting field of 'wine angelry.' Apparently some hotels and restaurants are now storing their huge wine collections vertically, several stories high, and 'wine angels' are sent up to retrieve bottles that are ordered, to entertain diners.
"What kind of system raises and lowers these angels?
"It's a series of tubes...."
"...Would I have to say anything?
"Just the odd phrase like, 'Table four, think fast!'..."
I'm an American citizen, and sort of like it when new, innovative, ideas get implemented in this country. In this case, it looks like the Swiss beat us in the wine angel race. The photos (there's another one in the post) were taken at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Zurich airport, a luxury hotel in Switzerland.
Finally, I'm inclined to agree with the blogger: a half-century back, something like this would have made a great "I Love Lucy episode.
Take a line through the 'candy factory' vignette:
"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy"

Today's News! Some of it, anyway
Actually, some of yesterday's news may be here. Or maybe last week's.
The software and science stuff might still be interesting, though. Or not.
