I kept a close eye on the weather yesterday evening, as I usually do when there's a tornado warning out for my part of Minnesota.
The storm passed just north of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, where I live, but my guess is that folks living at the north end of Sauk Lake got some rather rough weather. Which will be the second time that's happened to them this summer.
The good news is that nobody seems to have gotten hurt. The bad news is that some folks elsewhere in the state are missing a house.

"Andy Gabrielson streams and videotapes spectacular up-close footage of a tornado in western Minnesota on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
"We're told the residents of the house that was hit were not home at the time...."
This footage, repeated on RussiaToday's YouTube account from SevereStudios', shows a bit more of that house.
"Tornado rips apart house in Minnesota"

"A powerful tornado has been caught on camera moving through the US state of Minnesota and destroying a house on its way. The twister touched down in Wilkin County, near the North Dakota state border. The footage, captured by a storm chaser ... shows the tornado crossing a road, then hitting a farmhouse and scattering debris. It could not be immediately verified if there were people inside the house. No injuries have been reported."
"Tornado caught on tape in western Minn."
KARE (August 7, 2010)
" A storm chaser captured some pretty dramatic video of a tornado in western Minnesota Saturday evening.
"The tornado touched down around 6:30 p.m. three miles west of Campbell in Wilkin County near the North Dakota border. The twister crossed an open field and hit a farm house, destroying it and scattering debris everywhere...."
The way the tornado popped that house open and whirled part of it around is why I pay rather close attention to severe weather watches and warnings. I've lived in this part of the world most of my life, and know what sort of things can happen.
I'm not afraid of bad weather: but I'm not stupid, either.

Today's News! Some of it, anyway
Actually, some of yesterday's news may be here. Or maybe last week's.
