Minnesota food events on this list go almost year-round, from "January 16-17, 2009 - 9th Annual Minnesota Organic Conference & Trade Show.... to "August 28-29, 2009 - Big Island Minnesota State Championship BBQ Competition &apm; Cook Off...." - with heavy emphasis on February and March.
In the 'unexpected events' category, my favorite is "Cold Climate Grape and Wine Conference" - in February, appropriately enough. The Minnesota Grape Growers Association (MGGA) supports Minnesota's wine industry.
Minnesota wine industry? Yes, there is one ("Minnesota has a wine industry. Who knew?" (Minnesota Public Radio (June 25, 2006)).
