Actually, one of the more amusing things in role playing games (those run by a witty game master) are those rare moments when the adventuring characters come across something utterly beyond their experience.
After the game master has described the object in great detail, the players realize that their characters are minutely examining something that's utterly everyday - in the real world.
Something like, say, a roller skate, or a vehicular license plate.
The adventure, of course, is to figure out how it got there.
Back to the colleges: I realize (now) that this is a bit of an 'in' joke. Some of these places are unfamiliar to me - but my hope is that enough of them are familiar to enough visitors to make this post worthwhile.
