I find this kind of thing fascinating. When I discovered that the Polish for 'camel' was 'wielbłąd' I whooped for joy, thinking 'wielki'='big' and 'błąd'='mistake'. So very apt for such an ugly beast.
My etymological conjecture was, sadly, wrong. Hmph!
