Albert Bierstadt: Gallery of 19th Century Landscape Paintings

Albert Bierstadt Paintings Gallery

"Albert Bierstadt (January 7, 1830 - February 18, 1902) was a German-American painter best known for his large landscapes of the American West. In obtaining the subject matter for these works, Bierstadt joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion. Though not the first artist to record these sites, Bierstadt was the foremost painter of these scenes for the remainder of the 19th century...."

There's a pretty good Bierstadt biography, and an eye-popping set of his complete works.

We've come a long way, since the days of Bierstadt. Today, you can stick a pipe in a box of facial tissues, and voilĂ ! you've got art. (I'm not making that up, BTW.)

Although I think modern art is nothing to sneeze at, I do enjoy - and appreciate - the works of this landscape artist. Maybe you will, too.
