More of What Makes Blogging Fun: National Colour, or the Flavors of English

I was guided to a review of a soccer match in Britain: not quite a blog, but a good example of what I wanted to discuss.

One of the many things I enjoy about the Web is the opportunity it gives me to read English in something other than the dialect that's common around here. I'm not talking about the embarrassing and/or funny oddities committed by people who don't have a firm grasp of English. You've run into that sort of thing: barely-decipherable text, apparently written by someone armed with foreign-phrase book with the English title, "Your, too, Can Wrote Engish."

Back to that soccer match review. I'm not a great soccer fan, but I enjoyed reading a piece written by a Singaporean who wasn't trying to 'sound British,' but had selected British English for this piece.

So, for fans of soccer and/or language, here's Match Report: Aston Villa 1 Liverpool 2.
