Curdled.
Milk.
Paint.

"Curdled milk paint recipe"
From Appropedia - the sustainability wiki

Curdled milk paint. I have no idea how useful, or safe, this stuff is: but it sounds fascinating.

The stuff is very safe with a long history of use. I think it is quite useful. I made paint based on that recipe and now guests admire my walls whenever they come over... maybe it is because the rest of my house is kinda ugly ;).

Nopanacea,

I'm glad you left that comment. I hope no-one thought I thought or implied that your paint was not safe.

I am, however, cautious - and wanted readers to know that I hadn't used, or researched, it myself.

Your curdled milk paint sounds like a very good idea - and seemed very familiar, when I read how it was made. My guess is that, a generation or two back, my family used something very much like it.

Hi Brian aka Nanoc or Norski,

Cautious is good. I just wanted to share my anecdotal experience.

I think quark paint was popular in Minnesota in the early part of the last century.

Keep up the good blogging,
Nopacacea
