Steamed Online Community Helps Change Mascot

"Formerly Pork Chop, the mascot's new name is Ferrous"

Whaddaya know. Now we can't say "pork chop." The term is offensive to Puerto Ricans. Some mean people called Puerto Ricans "pork chops," so now the term can't be used.

After a few Puerto Ricans and a "steamed online community" complained, the Iron Pigs changed the name of their team mascot from Pork Chop to Ferris.

I think this is a time where the online community can flex its muscles again.

Ferrous? How dare anyone call a mascot "Ferrous?!!" Despite the clumsy ruse of using an alternate spelling, this is an insult to all fans of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Not only that, but it makes a mockery of everyone who skipped a day of school!

FERRIS MUST GO!!

And it gets worse!!!

What about that team name, "Iron Pigs???!!!" It is shocking that, in this enlightened day, anyone could have the insensitivity to name a team "Iron Pigs," thereby degrading iron workers around the world by calling them pigs!!!!

So get out there, online community, get steamed!!! Make that team change its mascot again. And, while you're at it, make the team change its name!!!

In this hypersensitive age, the fun can go on, and on, and on.
