Hiring a Web Guy? Be Careful Who You Hire

"9 Signs You Shouldn't Hire THAT Web Guy" (February 11, 2008)

A nine-point list of what to look out for, from someone who claims inside information: straight from dissatisfied decision-makers in mid-size businesses.

A pretty good list. The only surprise for me was that "webmaster" now carries the connotation of "amateur." Given what I've read, though, from the self-descriptions of web designers, I can believe it.

Great: Now I may have to come up with a new way to describe what I do.

I also somewhat disagree with the second point about FrontPage. As far as user interfaces go it's a whole heck of a lot better than Dream Weaver and you can still code by hand. Being proficient in a particular piece of software should not be taken as a negative.

Actually, some of yesterday's news may be here. Or maybe last week's.
The software and science stuff might still be interesting, though. Or not.
