"Robots Integrate Selves Into Japanese Society"

We're a long way from C3PO, or HAL 9000, but Japan has robots working as receptionists, and on the cleaning crew.
Meanwhile, at Meiji University, robots are being developed that can understand and respond appropriately to emotions.
Exciting times.
