Abandoned Train Station, Michigan

"Abandoned Michigan Central Station, Detroit, Michigan, USA"
Artificial Owl (undated: probably October, 2008)

"Michigan Central Station (also known as Michigan Central Depot or MCS), built in 1913 for the Michigan Central Railroad, was Detroit, Michigan's, passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913, when the previous Michigan Central Station burned, until the last Amtrak train pulled away from the station on January 6, 1988...."

Text from Wikipedia, photos from all over: A pretty good look at a now-abandoned train station in the Detroit area.

  1. I hope that they can rescue the building. I'll bet it was once beautiful inside, regardless of the current condition. Alas, economic issues may well condemn it to demolition. I can only imagine how much it would cost to upgrade the wiring and plumbing.

  2. legbamel,

Agreed, across the board. The photos show quite a lot of promise inside.
