Global Warming and Lost Documentation: 'Please Pay No Attention'

"Climate chief dismisses e-mail outrage"
CNN (December 8, 2009)

"One of the world's leading authorities on climate change has dismissed the contents of controversial e-mails leaked from the University of East Anglia as nothing more than friends and colleagues 'letting off steam.'

" 'Well, I can tell you, privately when I talk to my friends, I use language much worse than that. This was purely private communications between friends, between, colleagues, they were letting off steam. I think we should see it as nothing more than that,' Rajendra Pachauri, the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) told CNN...."

The problem isn't (just) the emails. It's the data that 'just happened' to get destroyed when people who weren't true believers wanted to take a look.

Oh, well, the message is clear enough: global warming is real, it's humanity's fault, and that's what we're all supposed to believe. The lost documentation? That's a non-event that never happened. Officially.

Oh, and did you intend a double post?

  2. Brigid,

True believers won't, I suspect, give up their loyalty to the doctrine of Global Warming any time soon. My hope is that more people who are playing with a full deck, and have no interest in the sort of political and economic power a general faith in Global Warming gives its advocates, will start looking at the facts - and start wondering if the Bush administration could really have changed the climate on other planets.

About the double post: That was a glitch. I've had a few today.

'It must be the computer - I don't make mistakes' (ha!).
