150-Plus "College-Level" Words

" 'COLLEGE-LEVEL' VOCABULARY STUDENT LISTS"
On the Germanna Community College website

A vocabulary list for English 111-01 of 2001: from "1. jocund :Full of or expressing high-spirited merriment; light-hearted; pleasant, cheering, delightful" to "150. underwhelm \un-der-WELM or un-der-HWELM\ (verb): to fail to impress or stimulate." The latter is among the few places I've encountered that word (which is a useful one, from time to time).

As a sort of bonus, there's "A list of Greek Word Roots that apply especially to Nursing Words" at the bottom of the page.

This page is as much fun to read as a a dictionary. For me, that means that it's a great deal of fun. Others may have alternative experiences.
