"Your Guide to Forgotten Restaurants in Columbus Ohio"
This site has been around since May 13, 1997 - and, judging by the counter at the bottom of the home page, I'm the 9,057th person to visit.
It's a treasure-trove of trivia - and a timeline - about the history of restaurants in Columbus, Ohio. And, if you don't find what you're looking for here: the webmaster's put links to other websites about Columbus restaurant history.
Odds are that you'll learn something if you visit this site. For example, I didn't know that the first White Castle in Columbus opened in 1929; and that the bar at Little Brother's (1100 N High Street) is not only long and made of cherry wood, but "was salvaged from another bygone Columbus institution, the Jai Lai restaurant."
ColumbusRestaurantHistory.com isn't the most polished and sophisticated website you'll ever visit. But it looks like a pretty good source for information - there's more than the 'White Castle' stuff I mentioned - and it's being maintained. The last update seems to have been September 3, 2009, about a week and a half ago.
