It's not what you think: Scott Wade makes reproductions of classic art like the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh's Starry Night, as well as what I think are original works, on dirty car windshields.

Actually, that Mona Lisa and Starry Night were one piece of artwork. I'll let Mr. Wade explain:

"This image featuring Leonardo's 'Mona Lisa' with Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' is shown at its peak. These images drawn in the dust are obviously quite impermanent. One of the cool things about them is how they change over time. More dust accumulates as the car is driven down the road. Early morning dew streaks and dots the image, creating a patina. A light shower creates a deeper patina...."

Some contemporary 'artists' - like the fellow who threw paint into a jet engine exhaust and sold the results - are, in my opinion, more slick salesperson than artist.

Scott Wade, on the other hand, has taken something we encounter every day, and worked it into memorable, if ephemeral, images.
