"It’s always interesting to see the houses that architects design for themselves, and for Dan Heinfeld, president of LPA Architects, his goal was not only to build a beautiful and liveable home, but also a sustainable one.

"The two-story, four-bedroom, four-bathroom house is located in Newport Beach, California, where Heinfeld lives with his wife and daughter. Heinfeld’s efforts towards building a sustainable home are found in such features as the use of recycled materials, VOC-free paint throughout, sensors that turn off lights when nobody is in the room, and solar panels on the roof...."

The Chestnut Residence seems full of blank walls, clean lines, high ceilings, and the near-total lack of ornament that the Modern style is all about. It's a nice-looking place, and might be livable - although I'd want to see a floor plan before opining about that.

I like the relatively vast interior spaces. Places like this are far, far out of my budget - but it's nice to get a look at them now and again.
