Styrofoam Home Décor: Faux Features for Fancy Living

"Decorate with Styrofoam"
Crea-T-V-T (December 24, 2008)

"Last week I received my Creative Home magazine and I was really surprised (in a good way) with the little book that came with it showing how Styrofoam can be used in so many different ways to decorate one's home.

"Styrofoam? Why not! It's light, versatile and there are many things that can be done with. It can be used with wallpaper, fabric, paint, faux moss...."

Waitaminit: "faux moss"?! "Styrofoam"?!!

It's a joke, right?

No joke. As far as I can tell, this post is serious: although it's seriously short on detail about how you start with Styrofoam and end with something that (from a distance, at least) looks like a mildly high-end decorator's work.

I suppose you can get some how-2 ideas from the photos (there are eight of them). And, there's a link to STYROFOAM Brand Products home décor.

What with one thing an another, quite a few people are a bit short on cash these days in America - and elsewhere. If you're in a position where you'd like to redecorate, have a few bucks left over at the end of the month, and like craft projects - this could be a pretty good resource.

  1. Hi Brian, Thank you for the post. If you go on the Styrofoam website (http://craft.dow.com/craft/proj/index.htm) it gives you detailed instructions on how to achieve each of these projects. And you'll also find a lot of other Styrofoam craft projects.
