Teen Girl Breaks Prom Curfew: Saves Mom, Dad, and Baby

"Big Lake Teen Alerts Neighboring Residence to Fire"
KMSP/MyFox (May 12, 2008)

John, Katrina, and young Thomas Hilyar are glad that Big Lake High School student Nikki Cusick broke curfew after the prom last Saturday. So are Nikki Cusick's parents, apparently.

Nikki went to the kitchen after returning - after curfew - and looked out the window. Apparently the first thing she saw was her neighbor's house. On fire.

Nikki's mother ran over to the Hilyars, roused them, and got the neighboring family out in time: saving three lives.

KMSP tried to interview the Hilyars, but: "They were not available to comment immediately following the fire because of Katrina Hilyar was in the hospital giving birth to their first baby, Thomas."

The Hilyar family lost their home, and most of their possessions. There's a benefit dinner this weekend. Odds are you won't be able to make it there, but in case you want to help, KMSP writes that an assistance fund has been set up:
