The stuff is very safe with a long history of use. I think it is quite useful. I made paint based on that recipe and now guests admire my walls whenever they come over... maybe it is because the rest of my house is kinda ugly ;).

I am, however, cautious - and wanted readers to know that I hadn't used, or researched, it myself.
Your curdled milk paint sounds like a very good idea - and seemed very familiar, when I read how it was made. My guess is that, a generation or two back, my family used something very much like it.

I think quark paint was popular in Minnesota in the early part of the last century.
