Santa Claus, 2007 - as seen from 1907

"Santa in 2007: A vintage vision of the future!"
From "Girl Genius Holiday Downloads"
(Christmas, 2008)

"(A huge thank you to all of you who wrote to tell us more about this wonderful picture. It's from St. Nicholas Magazine, a fine old publication that we have long admired. It is available on Google Book Search.)"

That magazine is St. Nicholas, edited by Mary Mapes Dodge. The magazine issues I found on Google Books were the May to October issues of many years, around 1900.

St. Nicholas magazine is a window into the technology, culture, and children's literature of a hundred years ago - and the illustrations show what can be done when talent is applied to several black-and-white techniques.
